Story

A girl named Fei Fei is told by the legend of the moon goddess Chang’e who took the potion for eternity, causing her to become a goddess and ascend to the Moon without her lover Houyi, and wait for her there. In preparation for the annual Moon Festival, Fei Fei and her family make moon cakes for the village. However, Fei Fei’s mother fell ill, and gave her daughter a rabbit named Bungee, before she died.

Fei Fei, who still trusts Chang’e four years later, is saddened when he learns that his father is engaged to Zhong, and his annoying son, Chin. Fei Fei’s family joins them for the Moon Festival celebration, but during their meal Fei Fei realizes that his father no longer believes in Chang’e because his family rejects the goddess’s existence. Disappointed, he ran to the lake he used to visit with his family and remembered his mother. Inspired by Chang’e’s crane and legend, he decided to build a rocket to the Moon to prove that Chang’e was real. He designed a rocket that resembled a Chinese paper lantern in the shape of a rabbit using fireworks to increase its speed. His rocket almost succeeded until he realized that Chin had slipped on his rocket and they began to crash into Earth. Suddenly, the rocket was caught in a mystical energy beam and carried to the Moon. They crashed to the ground after being surrounded by happy spirits, who then rescued them and led them to Lunaria, a kingdom entirely composed of light on the dark side of the moon and Chang’e’s house.
