Elena and the secret of Avalor ( Elena and the Secret of Avalor ), also known as Elena and the secrets of Avalor in the DVD version, is the special movie-crossover of the Sofia series the princess (2013) produced by Walt Disney Pictures Television Animation Distribution and distributed by Disney Junior Original Productions , directed by Jamie Mitchell and written by Craig Gerber, with the soundtrack composed by John Kavanaugh. The film was broadcast on television in North America by Disney Channel in simulcast with Disney JuniorNovember 20, 2016 in first television viewing, then broadcast in the same channels also in the United Kingdom in December of the same year. In Italy it was broadcast on February 17, 2017 on Disney Channel , always in simulcast with Disney Junior .
It all begins in a magical kingdom inspired by the Latin cultures called Avalor, or the birthplace of Princess Elena Castillo Flores, a young and courageous 16-year-old girl with a heart full of kindness and intelligence; she had lost her parents (King Raul and Queen Lucia) at the age of 15. The young woman and her friends meet the characters from the Kingdom of Incantia, including the little princess Sofia , her brother the prince James and other characters. So they decide to found a real alliance to face and defeat their enemy, the terrible witch Shuriki, guilty of having attacked the royal palace and killed the parents.
