Nobita Nobi is a fifth grade student who constantly receives low grades due to his laziness, in addition to being attacked by his classmate Takeshi Goda “Gigante”. His great-great-grandson of the XXII century Sewashi, who observes him every day, travels to Nobita’s time taking with him his robotic cat called Doraemon. This tells Nobita that if he continues like this he will destroy his future: he would marry Jaiko, Giant’s sister, take his own company to ruin and win big debts. To avoid this, he orders Doraemon to help Nobita, modifying Doraemon’s nose so that he can only return to the XXII century only if Nobita ensures a better future.
Aware of his condition, Doraemon uses all his artifacts to help Nobita. Although Doraemon warns Nobita not to be too dependent on his objects, Nobita asks Doraemon to help him woo Shizuka Minamoto, whom Doraemon reveals, she will be Nobita’s wife if he corrects her future. Anyway, all these efforts end up causing Shizuka to approach Hidetoshi Dekigusu, a star student. Nobita’s attempts to equalize with Dekigusu by studying harder are useless, making him decide to let Shizuka go as long as she is happy and this fact caused the future to be corrected and now he would marry Shizuka.
As his mission comes to an end, Doraemon’s Sewashi program schedules his return to the future within 48 hours. Realizing that Doraemon has difficulty leaving due to his concern for him, Nobita fights with Gigante to prove to Doraemon that he is able to fend for himself, but is defeated. However, seeing that Nobita is not willing to surrender, Gigante gives up and lets an emotional Doraemon take him home before leaving for the future the next day. On the day of the innocents, Suneo and Giant make Nobita believe that Doraemon has returned, but Nobita discovers that it is nothing more than a lie and, enraged, drinks a Doraemon potion that turns all truths into lies and vice versa. Finished his revenge against the two, Nobita returns to his house lamenting that Doraemon will never return, but then Doraemon appears there by surprise, revealing that the potion turned Nobita’s lament into a lie and brought him back. The two embrace and cry with happiness.
